RULES HICKS TROPHY & HICKS PLATE 2026
There will be a preliminary round to be played by 26th April 2026
Winners will progress to the Hicks Trophy draw, losers to the Plate draw.
All rounds to be played Home & Away for Trophy & Plate.
General Rules and Conditions
Please consult the General Rules and Conditions that apply to all SWG Inter-Club Team knock-out Competitions. (Rules G1-G26 and T1-6), Issue v21.
All players who wish to enter a SWG competition must be in possession of a current, registered WHS handicap. They must have played three qualifying rounds in the previous 12 months (not including cards used to gain their Initial Handicap Index) prior to the date of the Event, or for Individual and Inter-club competitions, prior to the date of each match. This applies to handicap and scratch competitions. Where there is a Handicap Index eligibility criteria, it is the Handicap Index of the day immediately preceding the match that applies for eligibility to play. Actual Handicap Index on the day is used to calculate the Playing handicap for Playing order
Hicks Trophy and Hicks Plate Rules and Conditions (H= Hicks)
H1. An Inter-Club scratch singles match play Competition, played annually.
H2. A club affiliated to SWG may enter a team of five players
H3. All teams will play “Home” and “Away” matches in ALL rounds 2026 this includes plate matches.
H4. All matches played to the 18th with an A/S result giving half point to each team.
In the second leg, players may be called in if an overall team result has been reached.
H5. In all matches, when the match score is one-all, the highest number of games won will decide the winners.
H8. For a tied match (5-5), the highest number of game points will decide the winner. Game points are awarded as follows: -
Win by 6/4 = 6 points to the winner
Win by 2 holes = 2 points to the winner
All Square on 18th hole = .5 point to both players
Match Claimed = 10 points to the claimant (see T4)
Walkover = 10 points to the winner
Illness/injury during match = score at time or 1 point, whichever is greater (see G17)
H9. If still tied, the first named players in each team must play “sudden death” from the 1st tee to obtain a result.
H10. The Finals will be played on 4th October at Farleigh GC
