Fabulous Centenary Bowl and Plate finals day at Royal Mid-Surrey

Worplesdon team captain, Elly Saunders with County Captain, Jane Bathurst, and County President, Chris Braidwood

The finals of the Centenary Bowl and Centenary Plate were played at a chilly but gloriously sunny Royal Mid-Surrey on Sunday, 15th October.  None of the teams contesting the two finals had won the competitions previously and so we were guaranteed new names on both trophies.

Worplesdon and Hindhead played for the Centenary Bowl, both clubs having already had very successful years.  Victory in the Centenary Bowl was going to be the icing on the cake.  The match was close, with players in all five matches trading holes.  Ultimately, Worplesdon took victory 4-1.  The players were ecstatic, with several confessing to having a tear in their eye!

In the Centenary Plate final, Roehampton took on Surbiton.  Once again, the matches were closely fought. In the end, Roehampton came out on top 3.5 matches to 1.5.

Congratulations to all four teams for winning their way through to the finals and playing their matches in such good spirit.  Huge thanks also to Royal Mid-Surrey for being host venue and looking after everyone so well.
