We are deeply saddened to report the death of Ann Archer, nee Rampton, on Thursday, 9th May.  She was 93.

Ann, who was Surrey County Captain 1973-74, had a notable playing career although some would say she was under-rated and did not receive the recognition she deserved.  Among her achievements, Ann won the Surrey County Championship in 1963, having been runner up in 1961, and captained the winning England teams in the European Team Cup in 1967 and the Home Internationals in 1968.  She won the London Foursomes with Elizabeth Price-Fisher, representing Hankley Common, in 1972 and the Ladies' Sunningdale Foursomes in 1974 with Shirley Morrogh, another Hankley member.  She was Lady Captain of Hankley Common in 1969, later becoming an Honorary Life Member.  She was also an Honorary Life Member of Surrey.

Ann's funeral will take place on Thursday, 21st May at Guildford Crematorium at 12 noon.  We will miss Ann and send our sympathies to her family.
