Hindhead Third at English Women's Champion Club
Congratulations to the team from Hindhead who came third in the English Women's Champion Club competition, played at Hessle Golf Club in Yorkshire, 31st August - 1st September.
Each county affiliated to England Golf is able to nominate one club to play in the competition which was introduced by England Golf last year. The competition is 36 holes of scratch stroke play played over two days and the winning club is the one with the lowest combined score of the best two players from each day. Hindhead qualified to represent Surrey as the 2023 Hicks Trophy winners.
The team of Beliinda Pope (team captain), Becky Gee and Katherine Jarvie finished tied third with Willesley Park on a total of 317. The winners of the competition were North Hants Golf Club on 310, a score tied by Shifnal. However, in the event of a tie, the scores of the third player count, which saw North Hants take the title by the narrowest of margins.
Hindhead maintained Surrey's good record in the competition. The 2023 inaugural winners of the title were Walton Heath.
