Senior Friendly team draw against Sussex

LtoR: Jude Barnard Lee,Kath Lucey, Trudi Proud (Captain), Dianne Morgans,
Ann Waite, Maggs Kyte, Kay Bowman, Sue Wild.

The Senior Friendly match v Sussex on Thursday, 26th September nearly didn’t happen!  The weather forecast was not promising with heavy showers in the area.  However, given that some of the players had driven for almost two hours to get to Farnham Golf Club, we decided to pull ourselves together and get onto the tee.  Some were more reluctant than others but we weren't going to be put off by a little bit of rain!

In spite of the conditions, some stunning golf shots were played and the matches were all closely contested.  Everyone enjoyed the course even though it was unusually damp in places. Intermittent rain was accompanied by sun and rainbows, which helped to brighten the day.  When we came in, we all agreed that we had enjoyed the day and were glad that we had gone out.

The result of the match was a very friendly 2-2 draw, which seemed very appropriate.

A special mention must go to Dianne Morgans who stepped in to replace Lorna Robey at the 11th hour.  Dianne had been playing her Autumn Meeting Foursomes at Hankley that morning when she received my text asking her to play.  She kindly finished at Hankley, then popped up the road to Farnham where she partnered me. We won our match 3&2!
