Julia helps England Senior Women's Team win in Spain
Congratulations to Julia Brook (Walton Heath), second left above, and the England Senior Women's Team who have won the European Senior Women's Team Championship (2nd-6th September) at the Pula Golf Resort in Spain.
England finished in 3rd position in the 36 hole stroke play and so qualified for the match play stages, setting up a quarter-final against Spain. They beat the Spanish very convincingly 4-1 and then took on the reigning champions France in the semi-finals. Once again, England recorded an excellent victory, 3.5-1.5. This took the team through to the final against Sweden. Another commanding 4-1 victory saw the team crowned Champions.
The team members were Cath Rawthore, Julia Brook, Tracey Williamson, Sarah Naden, Kerry Smith and Sally Shayler. Non-playing team captain was Angela Jones.
